The ultimate gift guide for speedcubers

Hi! Hello! I have been recently getting into speedcubing (solving Rubik’s cubes in short amounts of time) and I have learned a lot. I notice that whenever parents buy their kids Rubik’s cubes, they usually just go to a store and buy one. This is not a great idea, so here are some ideas for gifts that a cuber ACTUALLY wants.

1. Any GAN Cube

GAN is one of the most well known brands in the speedcubing industry, and the cubes it manufactures have a very unique, smooth feel. They are sometimes joked about for having some of the most pricey cubes on the market, but they perform extremely well and are endorsed by some of the best speedcubers in the world. The GAN 11 M Pro is a great choice. Find it here:

2. Novelty Cubes

Any fan will love these. These could be shape mods, big puzzles, etc. These can be collectible and very fun to have. An example is the 21×21 from MoYu:

3. Cubing Bags

These are specialized backpacks/duffel bags designed to hold cubes and accessories. These are great to have, especially for competitions and tournaments.

4. Lubricants

Lubricants are used in speed cubes to change the feel or speed of it. These are very useful, and should be used regardless of the cube you use for solving. These are pretty cheap, and don’t worry about not getting enough of it. Very few people actually go through a full bottle or syringe of lube. Also, there are many kinds of lubricant. I personally buy mine from TheCubicle, because they make their own premium and in house lubes. DNM-37 is essential, as it is a lubricant specifically designed to speed up your cube. There are also lubes meant to slow down the cube or make it more controllable. My personal favorite lubricants are DNM-37 to keep speed, the Angstrom lubes to make it controllable, Mystic to provide a plush and soft feel, and Weight 5 to slow down the cube.

5. GoPro Cameras

This might seem like an odd one, but cubers are sure to love a GoPro. Maybe they want to record their times on certain event when they are at a competition. If this is the case, this will be very useful for them. http://gopro.com/en/us/shop/cameras/hero10-black/CHDHX-101-master.html?option-id=CHDHX-101-master

6. Smart Cubes

These are really fun to have, and they can be useful. These can be used to play games, practice, and more! With the recent release of the GAN 356 i Carry, there really isn’t a reason not to own one of these.

7. Steven’s Little Magic Pyraminx

When it gets restocked, this is an absolute must for anyone who is serious about the Pyraminx event. This is the absolute best Pyraminx on the market, and it only costs $17. On top of all that, it was also used to set the Pyraminx world record average.

8. Cubing Mats

These are super useful for cubing, because cubers won’t have to worry about damaging their cubes when solving. These come in many varieties, and really any mat will work. These are super great to have, and it’s an absolute must for any cuber.

9. Budget 3x3s

I have come across some great budget cubes, and they are great to check out. I especially recommend the DianSheng Solar S 3×3, as it is a very good feeling and performing cube for $11. Apart from that, I recommend the RS3 M 2020 ($9) and the Tornado V2 ($25)
